We had something interesting happen at the office the other day. Even more interesting was the fact that the reporter from the Newtown Bee was on the scene at the same time the police and fire department were. Slow news day? Do they listen to the police scanner? Follow the sound of the sirens? You've got to love small town news...

Alli and I went on down to Alabama for the NASCAR race at Talladega a few weeks ago. We had some nice garage passes (thanks Dave). Sadly, Gordon won and there was much sadness in Jr. land. Seriously, EVERYONE at that race was a Dale Earnhardt Jr. fan. It was amazing. A sea of red shirts and hats. Driving into the track was funny too. People paint up their cars with "'Dega Bound" and "Go #8" and "#24 Sucks," etc. Very enthusiastic crowd. Check out the pictures here.

So the latest news is that Dave Chappelle is holed up in a nut house in, of all places, South Africa. Now, if he's really lost his marbles, going to South Africa to seek help sure does sound like something a crazy person would do. However, isn't this just a bit too off the wall? Chappelle seemed OK, if not a little tired, when we saw him at the Oakdale several weeks ago.

Imagine you are Dave for a moment. You have the burden of writing and taping a third season of a show that is such a huge hit that it has become part of pop-culture in it's own time. You would have to come into the third season with something truly out there. Maybe this whole South Africa thing is all part of the show? Maybe it dovetails into the new season somehow?

I sure hope it does, because I want a third season of Chappelle. It would be quite a sad thing if this show only went two seasons.
